Hello, welcome to my blog. This site was created yesterday, November 11, 2024, with the blog created today, November 12. I've been on a Hamburger Schule binge recently, hence the title of this post. My first Hamburger Schule band was Tocotronic. The music video for "Die Welt kann mich nicht mehr verstehen", I played on repeat.
Fanart for the band Tocotronic, based on the cover for their album Wir Kommen Um Uns Zu Beschweren
I think I first heard Tocotronic on one of those Spotify-generated playlists I got, with that song being the first I've heard. I've mostly heard the earlier stuff, but they're pretty good in that 90s alt/indie rock sense plus they were pretty cute...
Photograph of the band Tocotronic taken around the 90s. The lead singer, Dirk von Lowtzow, wore a lot of tight shirts back then, huh?
Another subgenre of European music I really enjoy is Swedish indie-pop, particularly the indie-pop produced during the 1990s-2000s. With musicians such as The Wannadies, The Tough Alliance, Leslies, or generally bands under the Labrador Records label, were pretty amazing. I could write another blog post, or maybe a whole zine, on Swedish indie-pop one of these days. So my infatuation with Hamburger Schule can be seen as a betrayal.
Just kidding, of course.
